Secure Fencing Requires the following prior to beginning your project:
- A meeting with the Owner on site to go over location of fence, gates and any other items we need to be aware of or need to provide. It is the Owners responsibility as to what we use for our lateral alignment. See FAQ’s for more information.
- Vertical alignment is typically set approximately 7” from bottom of fence to top of rough grade. This allows for 4 – 5” of top soil and up to 2 – 3” of sod, mulch or rocks. We do not recommend having the fence built any lower since the rain and daily dew will cause the bottom of the fence to rot much quicker than the rest of the fence.
- Alberta One Call albertaonecall.com (1-800-242-3447) needs to be contacted by the Owner and marked prior to our start.
- Power & water in a residential yard needs to be available. Issues have arisen with the noise of a generator running for 8-12 hours and we try to minimize disturbances for both you and your neighbors.
- The Owner is responsible for supplying a paint specification or sample of the desired colour, if required.
- Access for equipment is required. Drilling of holes is most efficient with a skid steer and therefore the least cost. Other methods of drilling can be done but may affect the price.
- Payments are due in full upon completion of the project. Payment of the fence is also the full responsibility of the person that hired us. We can definitely break out the costs for each individual neighbor but collection of money will be one person unless arrangements are made prior to starting. Larger, multiple houses being completed at one time will be billed separately. We accept cash, cheque, bank drafts, or e-transfers but we currently do not accept VISA or MasterCard.
- Environmental conditions are assumed to be frost free and limited in moisture accumulation. In other words, pricing is based on non-muddy, non-winter conditions. Excessive rain and mud can make productivity low and landscaping damages high. Winter construction is available and can be priced accordingly.
- Returns or Tie in’s to the house. The standard practice for the small section of fence that comes from the property line fence back to house be attached to the house. The house is very stable and the 2×4 cleats are screwed, not nailed. Additionally, The soil conditions right near the house are usually very dry and loose which can lead to future settling and looseness. We can install a post by the house in lieu of the cleat for an additional $95 if a customer chooses.
